Fomo App vs Moonshot: two phone apps, one cheaper
Fomo and Moonshot both promise the same thing: buy a memecoin from your phone with Apple Pay, no seed phrase to write down. Up close they are different apps. Moonshot is a Solana-only app with tokenized stocks, 250x leverage outside the US and a coin launchpad. Fomo trades six chains, shows you a feed of named traders and charges lower fees at every trade size. Here is the fee math, how the two compare on chains, stocks and cash-outs, and which app is better for the way you buy.

Is Moonshot better than Fomo?
For buying memecoins, no. Fomo is cheaper at every trade size on Solana, trades six chains instead of one and shows you a feed of named traders. Moonshot is the better pick if you want to cash out to a bank inside the app, launch your own coin, or trade with up to 250x leverage outside the US, UK and Canada.
The memecoin app of 2025, and the one that overtook it
In January 2025 Moonshot was the memecoin app. When the TRUMP coin launched, Moonshot was one of the easiest ways to buy it with Apple Pay, and it pushed close to $400 million of volume in a few days with more than a million people using it daily. A few days later Jupiter, the biggest trading aggregator on Solana, took a majority stake. For a lot of people it was the first crypto app that felt like a shopping app.
Fomo's iPhone app arrived that April with the same pitch on payments and a different idea of what goes on the home screen. Moonshot shows you coins: trending lists, verified badges, packs of memecoins with collectible cards. Fomo shows you people: who bought, at what price, and the line they wrote about why. Eighteen months on, the numbers have split hard. In the 30 days to October 7, DefiLlama counted about $5.5 billion of volume on Fomo and about $12 million on Moonshot's app.
Moonshot has spent that time widening the menu rather than the audience: tokenized Apple and Nvidia, leverage of up to 250x on bitcoin for traders outside the US, UK and Canada, and Moonshot Create, which turns a ticker and a picture into a live coin from inside the app. Fomo went wider on chains instead, six of them from one balance, and added perps, Robinhood stock tokens and clans around the same feed.
Two things Moonshot still does that Fomo does not deserve a fair hearing. It cashes out to a bank account or card inside the app, where Fomo only sends USDC to a crypto address, and it lets you launch a coin. On price, though, it is not close: Moonshot's 2.5% band and $0.99 minimum make small buys cost up to five times what they cost on Fomo. This site is an independent Fomo guide and earns a referral when you sign up with referral code GEMQUEENX; every Moonshot figure here comes from Moonshot's own support site.
Is Fomo cheaper than Moonshot?
Yes, at every size. Both apps fold the Solana network cost into what you pay, so the comparison is clean. Moonshot charges 2.5% on trades from $2 to $100, never less than about 99 cents, and 1% above $100. Fomo charges 10 cents under $5, 2% up to $47.50, a flat 95 cents up to $190 and 0.50% after that, with gas, priority fees and token rent paid by Fomo.
| Solana buy | Fomo | Fomo + GEMQUEENX | Moonshot | Fomo saves |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $10 | $0.20 | $0.20 | $0.99 | $0.79 |
| $20 | $0.40 | $0.40 | $0.99 | $0.59 |
| $50 | $0.95 | $0.95 | $1.25 | $0.30 |
| $99 | $0.95 | $0.95 | $2.48 | $1.53 |
| $150 | $0.95 | $0.95 | $1.50 | $0.55 |
| $250 | $1.25 | $1.13 | $2.50 | $1.25 |
| $1,000 | $5.00 | $4.50 | $10.00 | $5.00 |
Look at the $99 row. Moonshot's 2.5% band runs right up to $100 and then drops to 1%, so a $99 buy costs $2.48 and a $101 buy costs $1.01. If you stay on Moonshot, size your buys just over $100. Selling pays the same fee again on both apps, so a round trip doubles every figure.
At $50, Fomo is cheaper by $0.30 a buy.
Moonshot from its support site: 2.5% with a ~$0.99 minimum from $2 to $100, 1% above. Fomo from its help center. Fomo does not say whether the 10% discount applies to its Solana bands, so the code only changes Fomo's figure from $190 up.
The gap is widest on the majors. Fomo charges 0.05% on BTC, ETH, SOL and the rest of its Crypto tab, so $1,000 of SOL costs 50 cents. Moonshot charges its usual tiers, $10 on the same buy, and its bitcoin and ether are wrapped tokens on Solana. Money in and out adds a little on both: card and bank payments go through partners with their own fees, and Moonshot charges about 0.1% to 0.25% to convert crypto sent from other chains. Every Fomo fee is on the Fomo app fees page.
Fomo's trader feed vs Moonshot's coin lists
Open Moonshot and you see coins: what is trending, what is new, which ones Moonshot has verified, and packs that drop a random amount of a memecoin into your wallet with a collectible card attached. Verification is Moonshot's own label and, by its own account, not an endorsement. Nothing on the screen tells you who else bought or why.
Open Fomo and you see traders. Every buy and sell by the accounts you follow lands in the feed with the entry, the size and, often, a written reason, and you can filter that feed by trade size, chain and type, as the clip shows. One tap copies a trade at your own size. The Fomo copy trading guide covers how to pick traders without copying someone's worst week.
Stocks and leverage on Fomo and Moonshot
Both apps moved past memecoins in 2026, in different directions. Moonshot sells tokenized stocks, AAPLx, TSLAx, NVDAx, SPYx and a handful more, traded on Jupiter and held in your wallet, plus leverage of up to 250x on BTC, ETH and SOL for traders outside the US, UK, Canada and other restricted places. Leveraged trades pay 0.2% under $100 and 0.1% above, plus a borrowing fee that compounds hourly.
Fomo runs perps through Hyperliquid and trade.xyz, so the list is longer: crypto, US stocks, a SpaceX pre-IPO market, indices, gold and oil, with leverage capped by each venue at up to 40x on BTC and 50x on the S&P 500, as the clip shows. It also trades Robinhood stock tokens on Robinhood Chain. US persons get neither product. Details on the Fomo perps page.
Deposits and cash-outs on Fomo and Moonshot
Getting money in is easy on both. Fomo takes Apple Pay, Google Pay, cards, Coinbase and USDC, and charges nothing on crypto deposits. Moonshot works with MoonPay, Coinbase, Robinhood, Binance and Revolut, which between them cover cards and bank transfers depending on where you live, and it converts crypto sent from Ethereum, BNB Chain and other networks into USDC or SOL.
Getting money out is where Moonshot wins. It can send your balance to a bank account or a card through MoonPay, Coinbase or Robinhood, inside the app. Fomo sends USDC to a crypto address, so cashing out to a bank means a stop at an exchange such as Coinbase first. If one-tap cash-outs matter more to you than the fee per trade, that row favours Moonshot.
Is Fomo or Moonshot safer?
Both are self-custodial, so neither company can move or freeze your coins. Moonshot builds your wallet with Turnkey and protects it with a passkey, Face ID or Touch ID, and you can export a secret phrase from Settings, Export Keys. Fomo splits the key between your device and FOMO Labs through Privy, has no seed phrase at all, and lets you export the private key from Settings, Account. The Fomo wallet guide shows how.
The risks look alike too. Both names attract fake support accounts, and Moonshot warns on every help page that it will never ask for your login code or secret phrase; Fomo says the same about your key. Moonshot's 250x leverage is the sharpest tool in either app, since a move of less than half a percent can wipe out a position that large. And most memecoins on both apps end up near zero. See is Fomo legit for what we checked about FOMO Labs.
Fomo or Moonshot: which app should you use?
Both are built for people who would rather not touch a seed phrase. Pick by what you do after the first buy.
Pick Fomo if
You buy often and want the lowest fee at every size. You want to follow traders and see why they bought. You trade Base, BNB Chain or Robinhood Chain coins, or buy BTC and SOL at 0.05%. You also want to trade from a computer.
Pick Moonshot if
You want to cash out to a bank inside the app. You want to launch a coin of your own. You live outside the US, UK and Canada and want high leverage on BTC, ETH or SOL. Small fees matter less to you than a simple shop-style screen.
Use both if
You like Moonshot for cashing out and Fomo for trading. Buy and sell on Fomo, move USDC to Moonshot when you want money in the bank, and keep both secret keys backed up offline.
